Dandu 0 Posted July 3, 2006 Hi mates, recently I got in trouble with my throttle body - the shaft is damaged. While thinking about a replacement, I got overwhelmed by the idea to screw on a bigger one. After I woke up from this dream, I had to face another problem. My current (damaged) throttle body seems to be a little "extraterrestrial". But before I start to confuse you, I want you to answer one question. Where does the following throttle body come from? According my log-book the throttle body originates from a 205 1.9 (128 BHP). http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/858/cimg37267ic.jpg http://img335.imageshack.us/img335/5784/cimg37214yy.jpg It especially makes me wonder, that there only 2 hoses connected. One goes to the vacuum actuator (ignition distributor) and the other to the SAD. Especially the last route seems a bit strange to me. I thought the SAD bypasses the throttle body completely. Much thanks in advance! Bye Dandu
TEKNOPUG 3 Posted July 3, 2006 You have a big "Gutman" stamped in your engine bay - could this explain a non-standard TB and hose routing? What other details do you have about your car?
Dandu 0 Posted July 3, 2006 (edited) I recently talked to someone from Gutmann. He said ... "There must have been someone, who knows, which throttle body has been set up in your car. But now. No chance. Your car is too old. But as far as I remember, my colleagues from the past only applied standard parts from the 8v". They assume/assert, that the original 128BHP-throttle was used. But if you start to come up with technical details ... No chance! Other details? What else do you want to know? Is there anything missing in the topic description? Pug_101 0 Posted July 3, 2006 There should be a part number on the throttle body casting, if you can find that a post it on here someone may be able to match it up.
Dandu 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Actually there is no part number. But it's not important anymore. The throttle body is definitely not original. Only one connection is left from the original throttle body - the one, that links the vacuum actuator with the throttle. The rest has been removed. And finally ... another connection has been added, the one for the SAD. Much thanks for your help! Bye Dandu P.S. I don't want to leave out the images for the people being more interested. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3327/cimg37334yl.jpg http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2108/cimg37359zb.jpg http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/3825/cimg37369bw.jpg
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 5, 2006 That is a std 1.6 or 1.9 throttle body, I remember Gutman using this on the inlet manifold, It's been modded with the extra pipe as your pic, So modding one would be easy if you have access to a engineering company
