Help....turbo Wastegate Split....or New Turbo?

I have a KKK k14 turbo on my diesel that i suspect has a split diaphragm on the wastegate as i have unlimited boost! ( about 1.5 bar some days!) i have another K14 with the same problems as i've tested it. I've taken the spare one apart and cannot seem to get the wastegate apart to replace the diaphragm. (internal wastegate) anyone know how it's done and where i can get a replacement? OR should i just replace it with a Garrett T2 and be done with it. however does a T2 from a later 306 just bolt on in the KKK's place? i've been offered a new hybrid T2 with T3 compressor, but it's a bit more than i want to spend any alternatives? eg KKK K16 or a Garrett T25?

You can get new Garrett turbos for about £500 from the States. But you'd really need to love your diesel to spend that much money on it. You should really speak to Galv (aka The Derv Doctor) for oil-burning queries.

Cheapest place i could find for a remanufactured turbo was "Cats and Cams" (01782 392202) - who apparently are also a turbo specialist. A guy called George quoted a minimum of £125 up to a maximum of £300 including vat depandant on the level of damage to have my S3's turbo re built. They collect from you for £12.50 then strip/check/quote which is all free, if you don't like the price they'll send it back to you. They also stock turbo "off the shelf".

 

Worth a try maybe

ive had a quote for £500 for a hybrid so the states one is deffo out of the question. does anyone know how to get the wastegate off on a KKK? (internal)

and will a T2 bolt in the same place as a KKK without changing manifolds etc?

your not changing wastegates.... your only changing the actuator which is external, which unlcips or if your careful you can unscrew it from the rod

Sorry i meant actuator. ( i knew what i meant if no-one else did! LOL)

I can't get the actuator off the exhaust housing.................it doesn't look like it unscrews or unclips, just looks quite permanant! help please
