Mixture Question

Hi,

 

Following a chat with a friend on the AFM mixture screw, I am a bit confused.

 

I thought that the screw would set the mixture for both when the engine is idling and reving, but my friend argues that the screw's position only has an influence when the engine is idling or when the throttle is released.

 

He maintains that when the engine is reving, the mixture is computed by the ECU regardless of that screw's position. What does this screw physically do, does it just open more or less the airvalve on the AFM?

 

I really thought that performance was dependant on this mixture screw, but from his reasoning it would appear it isn't?

Your mate sounds right, it would just be the mixture at idle. Under throttle mixture is determined by afm and o2 sensor.
