Mi 16 Engine

Just rang up citroen as i need a new oil temp sender (thing in the bottom of the sump next to the sump plug) and they have asked how old the engine is as apparently the part changed..

 

I have no idea how old the engine is or what year car it came out of, anyway of telling?

Not sure what year they changed but the thread is possibly different, I know they changed the sump plug size on later cars but not the year. I had a BX TRi with a smaller thread oil temp sender which was a 1989/90 car.

 

Can't you give them the engine number & let them find it that way if the donor was definately a BX?

 

Other differences can be alloy or steel sump (or block depending on donor car) but I don't think any BX's had the alloy sump or steel block Mi fitted.

My BX engine has the alloy sump, and I've seen at least one other with it too.

Most BX 16v's have an alloy sump, even if they didn't have A/C

H reg onwards have a knock sensor if that helps??

4 digit number printed on the passenger side front pillar of the Bx is the ORGA number that's needed to be quoted to Citroen for a whole number of parts.

 

Guess you haven't got that, or can you take the existing part to the dealer to show them?
