Mi16 Manifold Bolts

Recommended Posts

got the bottom row off as easy as you like but how the f*** do you get the top row off, cant get a socket over them, and cant get the "hoop" side of the spanner over them and i cant see them well enough to really get a spanner on them. ive bashed the s*it out of all my fingers.

the head is so close to being off, and these stupid bolts are killing me.

any hints?

can you not just leave the manifold on and disconnect it from the downpipe?

yep undo the manifold from the downpipe then lift the cyl head of with the manifold attached. i find it still tricky to undo the middle top row nuts even with the cyl head of the engine.

bloody stupid design!!

and to make it even easier for refitting, buy yourself a new downpipe fitting kit rather than messing about in an awkward position with nuts that dont want to go back onto their rusted bolts lol. will be the best fivr you ever spend i promise you,

Regards,

Simon

Pig of a job

a hinged rachet spanner does the job on the top row, combined with monumental perserverance and patience. I replaced the studs too with short lengths of high strength thread bar

made a nice intro to 205 MI ownership!

To get to those bolts I took an offset ring spanner and hammered it until it had a curve in the middle, which fits happily now :D
