DaveK 0 Posted June 26, 2006 Im in the middle of changing the hub carrier and the new one has a very slight play in the part that the wheel bolts to. Does this mean the bearing or cv joint is knackered? Compared it to the old one and the old one is solid, no wobble atall cheers dave
pugrallye 0 Posted June 26, 2006 do you have play in the bearing??? assuming it is, then do you have play with or without the driveshaft in and torqued up?

ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted June 26, 2006 Does the wheel rumble? If the bearing is failing the noise should be louder when turning. They do have play in them with the Hub nut is off but not much.
pugrallye 0 Posted June 26, 2006 is it a new bearing? otherwise does it turn freely in your hand? Think your best off sucking and seeing, bolt it in place and torque up driveshaft and go from there, will only take you twenty mins to fit one
DaveK 0 Posted June 26, 2006 yea ill just fit it and hope for the best, its only bout 1mm play so hopefully it will be fine cheers chaps
pugrallye 0 Posted June 26, 2006 yeah you will get that cos bearings are in two halves, as soon as you tighten driveshaft it will pull them together removing the play
