Anyone know how these fair against Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's?

I need a couple of tyres for the Alfa and was wondering if anyone has stolen the F1's crown for a sensibly prices performance tyre with good wear rates?

I can imagine those being great in the dry, being a fast wearing soft compound but a bit iffy in the wet. Might make a good road track tyre.

they are not meant to be as soft as people think. i am lead to believe about the same wear rate as a GSD3

Looking at the tread pattern they certainly have more rubber per square inch than the Eagle F1's and have nice chunky shoulders. I can get a set for the same price as the F1's so I might give them a whirl. However as we live in the UK, wet grip is important on a daily driver that gets B road thrashed when the road is clear. I know that F1's are better than Proxis in the wet from experience, and also in the dry. I would hate to shell out £350 for 4 to discover they take away that wet weather confidence.

I might be getting rid of the Alfa but I just can't bring myself to throw a set of cheap "WingPong" tyres on it!

Any more thoughts on wet and wear rates?

if they are anything like 539's then wet drivign confidence will be dimished to say the least. I've found rainsports to be the best in wet driving and the same as F1's in the dry.

I'd still swear by the Bridgestone RE720's I had.. brilliant tyre!! Loads of grip in wet or dry and wear well.

The tread pattern isn't particularly attractive but who cares if they work well.

Or the A048's I've got on the mini :)
