16v205 9 Posted June 25, 2006 Hi Does anyone know at what power a magnex exhaust system becomes a restriction? Im looking at the idea of sourcing a 2.5" from downpipe to back box exhaust system, but I dont know if the magnex thats on the car already is suitable? Dont really want to spend money on something that doesnt need replacing. What exhausts are you guys running that are getting over 200bhp ? Cheers Rich
Daxed 7 Posted June 26, 2006 I'm going to go with a DES group A 2 1/2 inch copy. Stainless with optional centre box fitment depending on just how loud is acceptable. Has been discussed here before, tested to 220BHP IIRC.
Dream Weaver 2 Posted June 26, 2006 I have std centre and Magnex BB, but I think i'm also going for the DES grp A number, as my centre section still makes an annoying resonating noise when driving. Here's the DES thread - http://www.pughosting.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=49933
16v205 9 Posted June 26, 2006 I do quite like the look of that exhaust, but tbh im not too keen on the compression bends. Id like to see a back to back comparison of the original exhaust vs the DES system. Is there any other makes available? Rich

This was direct from mongoose and without the downpipe so could still retain the warranty, its a 57mm bore. Its quieter than the magnex, despite the fact you can look through the system and see daylight at the other end when its not connected up. I've yet to have the car on the dyno though and not sure on teh restrictions of power.
