Ant 2 Posted June 25, 2006 Took an MOT retest yesterday and flew through - Then flew home heheheh in the turbo.. So unrefined, but soooo much fun.. Only issue left is the temperature gauge. That isnt working.. And the fans kicked in when driving, so it must be getting hot The 2.0 lump had two temp plugs that sit in the engine. One has a single connection, the other has 2. The one closest to the turbo has 1 wire off it 47c - Now i pressume this would match to 47a on the 205 The other 1 has two wires. Not sure what these are.. Ive found wire 47 on the loom of the 605 and connected this to 47 on the 205 Still nothing. I wasnt even sure if it was the dash. Ive connected the two plugs from 205 lump to the 47 and 47a and put these in a glass of boiled water, but they gauage still doesnt move on the dash.. Ideas? inferno 1 Posted June 25, 2006 do u not have to use one side of the 2pin green lplug to the guage, and the other pin to earth? im sure thats how i wired my zx temp guage up... seems strange that you say the fan workd while driving, is this only in traffic? if not, have you wired up the bitron system or aircon, as the aircon and ecu will control the fanspeed and it can come on from cold... sonofsam 5 Posted June 25, 2006 Ant glad its alll road worthy mate and goes well, sorry cant really help out though. I tryed and failed, were my loom was such a mess and i had no wire numbers to speak of, thought it would be easier wiring in an aftremarket gauge. Did you leave both engine fuse boxes in there? Ant 2 Posted June 28, 2006 Well the gauge is sorted... Infernos comment about earth made me think. i was being stupid. The wire from 47a is +ve, but i was holding the sensor in water, and it wasnt earthed.. When its in the car, the caseing earths to the engine block.. So the one closest to the turbo ( 47c ) goes to 47A on a 205.. So thats the gauge working.. The other plug has 2 wires.. They are defo not earth, as the casing earths them.. They are 47a and 47, but the dont do the gauge. I presume one will be the coolant light. Think i might just swap the 1 spade 205 sensor Getting there though Sam, ive just used the 205 loom mated into the 605.. Luckily my 605 wires were all numbered, so i wasnt too bad really.. Ive seen trevor stiles wires and they aint numbered -
Rob Turbo 3 Posted June 28, 2006 So the one closest to the turbo ( 47c ) goes to 47A on a 205.. So thats the gauge working.. The other plug has 2 wires.. Think i might just swap the 1 spade 205 sensor The other one will be for the coolant light, but you only use one pin (cant remember which) the other one connects to nothing on the 205 loom, at least thats how I had mine wired and it worked ok
sonofsam 5 Posted June 28, 2006 Nice one Ant, maybe i'll have another crack at it then, what kind of readings are you getting?
Ant 2 Posted June 28, 2006 cheers.. Ones connected, the other one is wired right through to the 205 loom, so ill have a look.. Is it the coolant light that comes on when the pug gets stupidly hot ?
Rob Turbo 3 Posted June 28, 2006 Yeah thats the one, it also lights up when you have really low oil pressure because its linked to the oil warning light as well some how!
