Not Peugeot Related - Rover 100, Replacing Rear Arches?

Recommended Posts

jacobs53

Hi, I have noticed today that my rover 100 has started to rust just into the sill area, the arches have a few bubbles on aswell (normal for any rover 100)

I just want to stop the rust from attacking any more of the sill, and basically make it MOT worthy. The rust has only started to bubble the paint work on the sill, so any one used rust eater treatments, and are they any good?

Or should I just cut the arches off and get replacment ones welded in?

cheers lee

Do you actually like the car? If it was me I'd probably tart it up and sell it.

In response to your question, Kurust (sp.) is a reasonably good treatment.

To be honest, the looks arn't brilliant.... but the car is faultless, reliable and actually suprising quick for what it is. I was thinking about selling up, thats why I brought the 205. To be honest (this is going to sound totally gay!) II actually got used to the luxury of driving a reliable car, with no idling problems, starts first time. No failing ball joints... etc... (told you it was gay!)

And another reason I would like to keep it is due to the low milage, of only 32,000.

Right il get some Kurust and see how things go.

cheers for the advice.
