steve@cornwall 100 Posted June 23, 2006 As my cherry red/orange is in need of a respray I attacked a small area of laquer with compound and dremel (bit psyco, i know but I was interested..) The laquer came off quite easily from the first stage revealing lovely red underneath. I got carried away and did more, inevitably damaging the paint. Anyhow, i ended up using scotchpoad and cutting media (jif!) to remove laquer from a large area of the rear q'panel and now I'm wondering, as the laquer separates reasonably easily from the base coat, should I continue and remove it all prior to re spray as I'm worried about the new paint / old laquer lifting? Incidently there were no visible lifting laquer issues, just fade on some panels.
Jonmurgie 2 Posted June 23, 2006 If your re-painting any panel then you must remove the lacquer first
