Dvd Headunit

Recommended Posts

Hi all, im asking about DVD players (single din sized) inside the middle heater vent. ive seen it done before but i want to know how difficult it is???.

Ive allready got a JVC head unit with the 2 front dorrs speakers and 2 6x9's fitted on the parcel shelf. if i fitted the dvd headunit is it as simple as splitting the exsisting wires and joining them up to the dvd player (speakers and power)?. With closing the heater vents i suppose i just shut them off and fit the dvd player securley?.

Thanks for any input.......

Hopefully just splitting the wires should work but u may get interfearnce if you join the speaker wires together as it will be running off of two units.

You may have to wire in some kind of switch to switch the input device between the 2.

But good luck with it, should look pretty good when done :P

I had a look at fiiting a headunit in the vents a few years back, as far as I remember it involves cutting quite a bit out of the back of the dash as it is not deep enough to take the HU. You will also need to work out a way of connecting the two side vents next to the windows as they are all on the same ducting and you will have to cut through this also to get the unit in. I didn't bother in the end. Let us know how you get on preferably with pictures. HTH.

I think splitting the wires may work in a budgety way but if you had both units switched on at once I'd imagine some damage [to the headunit channels] would occur.

I would think you'ed have to cut into the blower box to fit this in?

And that would mean losing some of the screen blowers power becuase there'd be a large hole in it.

Let me know if you can fit it in without, I may do it myself if it will go in
