Not sure what torque they should be or whether you should replace them but I found out when changing the gasket on my old XS that they are different sizes so I would advise making a cardboard template so you can keep them in the right order. Not sure if the gti is the same but someone will advise if not.

Torque for the sump bolts is almost nothing, 7lbft.

There isn't any need to replace them just because you are changing the sump though imo. You should be able to get some from an bolt stockists, they are M7 thread but its the length you need to get right.

Have a look on the Parts CD, that should give you an idea on numbers needed & length afaik.

There are however, multiple different types of bolt (lengths and head types) holding the sump on so you should make sure you put them back in the right places.

yeah i have seen some of mine have allen key bolts on, strange must be right thou?

i think my sump is leaking either from top of spacer or gasket, as the oild running down form the front of sump to the back

i hear using the sealant in the tube is best for sealing the gasket and the spacer plate????/

its a bitch

thanks

according to haynes its 20 newton meters or 15 foot pounds. only the gasket is needed to seal the the sump, mine is as so. if youe have a spacer plate then that needs sealant and te allen bolts are 10 nm. i used the card the card the gasket came in, then u can mark the out in relation to the holes in the gasket. hope it helps and i think i'm right, this is how i did mine and it's ok, only been 3 days though.
