S16 Exhaust Manifold Fit Better Then Mi ?

This has been mentioned before but i coouldnt find a definite answer, basically if i get an s16 exhaust manifold will it fit straight to my mi head and therefore not require any cutting or welding and mate up with the standard 205 downpipe ?

It wont fit straight onto a 1.9 mi head, the top row of studs are in the wrong place, suppose you could get it drilled tho

nah ill just get the down pipe cut and welded, wonder if there is a thread covering this ......

It does fit very well if you have an S16 head. It's basically the same shape, size etc. as the 8V manifold, so the pipe lines up well. However, the S16 outlet is 2.5" not 2.25". I didn't use it as I had trouble lifting it off the floor!

I had this question recently when changing from Mi to S16. The Mi manifold is much better design and a lot lighter. To get over the mismatch of stud centres - I welded the Mi manifold to a steel wedge plate (for altering the angle to clear the bulkhead) and re-drilled the top row of studs in the wedge plate. That way the manifold should fir either the Mi or the S16.

Why would anyone trade the superb "spaghetti" design Mi exhaust manifold for a plain one from S16?

I don't think it's a bright idea at all..
