Towing A 205

Recommended Posts

With another 205.

Would a 1.9L Gti be able to tow a 2nd 205 comfortably with a "A frame", "Dolly" or full sized trailer?

What do you think :D

I will be fitting a proper tow hook for this.

I am thinking of having a 2nd 205 for the track and I am trying to figure out how to transport it.

I could drive it maybe, but if there's a problem I'm stuffed. So think trailering it would be better, but don't want another car just to tow it.

Dollies and "a" frames are a good price and easy to store so would prefer this method.

Cheers

pretty sure that dollies and a frames are for emergency use only by law?

I don't know about doing it often but I towed a gti with an XS, that was fun. :D

a frames are great, 20 mins to load up and fold away nicely in the boot, only drawback is dont ever try reversing with one!

wouldnt of thought they r emergancy use only...:S who told you that? the only laws i no of are no ropes and lowered speed limit to 30mph, and no moterway driving

But then who pays attention to the law? eh Inferno?

I've watched a J-plate Miami's towing eye come straight off! They're not not the strongest example!

Any problems in towing something your own weight? I know a heavier car would be ideal.

Maybe I should get a volvo estate and put the 205 in the boot ;)

The rear towing eyes are not to strong, but as mentioned will be ok as a 1 off kind of thing.
