TEKNOPUG 3 Posted June 18, 2006 Got my friends carb fixed and fitted eventually today. The engine starts now and runs without leaking any fuel - which is nice. However, it's not idling very well and it needs some adjustment. Also, it's got one of the bloody awful auto-choke things I know nothing about carbs (other than too many make me fat) and I spent about an hour looking at all these screws and springs before laughing it off and heading to the pub. So if there are any people in the London area who are adept at the black art of carb tuning and fancy earning a few beer tokens, it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Andrew

TurboSam 5 Posted November 27, 2006 Pete Baldwin has a very good reputation for tuning Minis, I know a few people who have had Minis set up there and they were impressed.
ashley peddle 3 Posted November 30, 2006 its anything carbed that he is well known for - but one of the people who reccomended him to me used to use him to tune her minis

ashley peddle 3 Posted November 30, 2006 he is based right near Royston... just finished my session with him and i have to say im VERY impressed... the car went in there running like a bag of nails and it now sings... so feckin impressed with the guy... costly at £285 inc setting up and all jets etc... but well worth it
macaroni 17 1 Cars Posted December 1, 2006 Royston Vasey? How long did it take? I don't mind paying for a good job done, unlike some so-called carb specialists.
macaroni 17 1 Cars Posted December 5, 2006 Ashley, just read in another post that some people are less than impressed with him. Did you get a power figure? I guess it doesn't matter if you're happy with the setup.
ashley peddle 3 Posted December 12, 2006 (edited) he does 90% of it by ear (puts one ned of a bit of tube in a trumpet and the other end to his ear, lol) his rollers are VERY optamistic but i would still reccomend him to anyone... after all i would prefer to know my car is properly tuned and not have an accurate bhp figure than to have an accurate bhp figure but the car not running as it should my 1.9 is now noticably quicker than a mates s16... my workshop is about 5 miles from his, so feel free to drop me a pm if your heading up there and il take you out for a quick spin in mine... im sure youd be impressed Edited December 12, 2006 by ashley peddle
