gats15 0 Posted June 18, 2006 I sometimes get a problem starting my 205 1.6gti, the starter motor clicks but does not work a few times. So i have to keep turning the key, before eventually starting. After changing my starter motor and still having the same prob , i`ve been told by a peogeot dealership that this is a common prob with the immobiliser drainning power from the immobiliser. Ive got a cobra version. Is there any way of solving this, without having to change the unit?
jackherer 543 Posted June 18, 2006 its nothing to do with an immobiliser, most 205s have this problem at one time or another and its usually down to the wiring to the starter motor being old and corroded.
gats15 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Ok cheers ill have a look at the connections as its a new starter motor, so its def not damaged. Will hopefully finaly solve the problem, so no more embarasing non starters at petrol stations.
jackherer 543 Posted June 18, 2006 if you follow the wire from the starter solenoid you'll find a brown multplug above the gearbox area that is often corroded.
