Draining A Be1 Gearbox

Any tips for this? I can't quite get the secket on due to the proximity of the front cross-member.

Does it not have a hex head bolt? ie you can get in there with a hex key rather than a socket, could be wrong mind.

where you draining from ? the diff , you should have room , should't you? , i usually use a square drive plug spanner but have used a socket on there

How did you get on?Is it the same square drive as used on the sump plug? just a thought:)

Sometimes you can't get a sump drain key in there as it catches the subframe & need a spanner instead.

Either a big spanner or a sump plug key. I often use a large adjustable as it does not need to be seriously tight.

Ish! Just enough to crush the new copper washer to make a seal as it is only holding oil against gravity, not pumped oil pressure.
