Guest edcotic Posted June 18, 2006 got a bit of play in the nearside front hub on my 1.6 gti just done the track rod end, and the wishbone bushes are tight - i'm assuming it's wheel bearing, do i need any particular tools? thanks
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted June 18, 2006 Is the play up and down movement or side to side?? To repalce it youll need access to a hydraulic press ideally to press the old one out. Also some good pullers to grip the old part of the bearing left on the hub that needs to be removed after its pressed out.
sonofsam 5 Posted June 18, 2006 Dont forget the cir-clip pliers, get a decent set as i bent a cheap one on its first outing !
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 18, 2006 Where is the movement exactly? Its possible that you need a new hub if the balljoint hole has become oval which is quite common. Graham.
