Guest ashnicholls Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) Would this kent cam pulley fit the standard gti 8v cam. Ie Fits over the little peg on the end of the cam to stop the cam turning. I was going to run the engine in (because has been rebuilt). Then get it rolling roaded. Does running the engine in with a standard pulling, and then fitting the verneir pulley at the rolling road and getting them to tune it sound like a good idea. Cheers Ash Edited June 16, 2006 by ashnicholls
Jonmurgie 2 Posted June 16, 2006 Perhaps you should have searched the Kent Cams website then?! Using the part number I can see on the end of the box I came up with this: Part No. PartType Description Manufacturer Make/Model Engine Size CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen AXGT: 1360cc CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen Saxo SX: 1.4 CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen Saxo SX: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen Saxo VSX: 1.4 CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen Saxo VSX: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen Saxo VTR: 1.4 CA31 Pulley Alloy Citroen Saxo VTR: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 106: 1.4 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 106: 1.4 XSi CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 106: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 106: 1.6 XSi CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 205: 1.3 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 206: 1.4 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 306: 1.4 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 306: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 306: 2.0 SXi CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 309: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 309: 1.9 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 405: 1.6 CA31 Pulley Alloy Peugeot 405: 1.9 So no to the 205 1.6/1.9 GTi motor it seems... trogboy 17 Posted June 16, 2006 I thought the standard cam pulleys for the TU 8v engines and the XU 8v engines were the same. Certainly the piper vernier pulley that runs on the TU engine at the moment came from a 1.9 gti lump.
Guest ashnicholls Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) does the peg on the cam fit through the cam pulley, and when the pulley is set to zero, does the arrow on pulley match up with the line on the cam belt? Edited June 16, 2006 by ashnicholls
trogboy 17 Posted June 16, 2006 From memory the pin on the pulley fits snugly into a machined slot in the cam (I think the hole in the back of the pulley is formed by the method of pressing the pulley to form a pin on the other face). When set to 0 degrees it is exactly the same timing as the standard pulley.
