Fitting Master Cylinder

Recommended Posts

rich_w

I've already fitted one but I had a rubber o-ring to help seal the master cylinder against the servo. I think this is now leaking.

In this picture I borrowed ;) You can see it:

But according to the Part's CD, its not shown as a replacable part:

The one on my replacement Master Cylinder is removable but i'm wondering if its needed or not...I would of thought I would need it, to make sure its sealed properly but usally stuff like that Peugeot show...

Cheers, Rich

edit: altered the master cylinder pic before the image police come for me! ^_^

I would say that it's needed, just not available from Pug on it's own. I bought a new mc from GSF recently & it came with one supplied.

Mark.

Servo assisted cars do not need that gasket. It says so in the early Haynes manual. (it actually says fit a new gasket to non-servo assisted models.)

I fitted my new one yesterday with not gasket so far no leaks.

You DO need the seal on servo-assisted cars. It forms part of the servo vacuum seal, so without it the servo will draw in air which can reduce its effectiveness.

You can get an O-ring from just about any car spares place but if you're stuck, go to Pug and get a dizzy O-ring oil seal, it's the same size (or near enough to fit anyway).
