Rims Fitting Problem On The Rear Axle

Recommended Posts

Guest Michael MRK

Hi

I want to fit 15's rims on my 205 GR, i didn't change the rear torsion bar yet, cos i'm confused about the offest they give to the rims, the problem that i got a new rims, 15x7.0 with dimensions of 108x4 peugeot fittings, when i fitted them at the front, they fit perfectly, but on the rear axle, the hit the inner arches (the one that forms the trunk), so i want to know which gives more offset the 1.6 torsion bar with drums, or the 1.9 torsion bar with discs, or they all the same and should i go for spacers ???

regards

What is the offset of your new rims? Also do they sit upright on the rear or do they lean in at the top?

well, i dunno actually, but i guess it about 35~40

and i didn't have the chance to try them at the rear cos they don't want to bolt in, so don't know whether they lean in at the top or not, but in the stock rims, they lean in to the top..!!

Sorry but you have bought yourself some FORD alloys, peugeot alloys only have an offset of 15. you'll need spacers i'm afraid, i doubt a rear beam swap will cure it and the fronts will foul on full lock probably

is it lowered cos you will have problems on the outer arches cos 7x15 are big for a non-gti. i have 195 / 50x15 (6.5x15) on my DT and they foul the outers!

and your beam is shot if it deffo leans in at the top

If the arches weren't a problem a 309 beam would space the rears out nicely i imagine, 10-20mm spacers on the front. Base model arches only need a light trim to accept 7" rims on a lowered car, the rears are a bit trickier though

lol, rear beam is really in a good condition, when i said that the wheel leans in to the top, its the normal camber angle of the rear axle tho
