Gearbox Selects Two Gears At The Same Time

Had my car on the rollers yesterday , and halfway through the mapping session, i had a call from the operator to say that he has had to stop because he cant get reverse gear.

 

all the forward gears are there, but when trying to select reverse the box goes solid as if two gears are selected at the same time ..

 

Anyone goit any ideas? is it time for a new box.. It is a BE1 by the way

Why do you need reverse gear to map a car? I'm sure he can push it out the way if needed at the end of the session?

 

A lot of people who move my 205 crunch the reverse gear for some reason. I assume he knows where the gear is (top left) and lift the collar!
