PhilCTI 1 Posted June 13, 2006 I've been having a few teething problems getting the engine to run properly, and whilst changing the HT leads and plugs, realised that I have a phase 1 coil, probably original, and a phase 2 distributor cap as the engine is a replacement from a gti that must have been a newer gti. bit of mixing a matching of leads to get the correct connections for each but I wanted to check that these are compatible with each other, if someone can let me know please, Phil

(H plate 1.9 into F plate 1.6) Thanks Steve, Thinking about it, the car did run ok when I bought it, it's only me thats buggered it! Still not sure if I've got the leads on right, searched & looked at all the posts on here and managed to confuse myself even more, I know the order ok its where to start and from which way looking at the cap do they go! and even the Haynes jokebook doesn't say, it just says to put them back how you found them, thanks alot! (opens himself up for obvious critisism, yes I was a muppet and they all sort of fell off together!) Phil
