GLPoomobile 958 Posted June 13, 2006 This is my spare 1.9 8v head that I started to dismantle last night. There is a big chunk missing under the cam seal. Am I right in thinking this isn't supposed to be there? holy crap batman So is this scrap or can it be repaired, or is it normal?
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted June 13, 2006 Oddly enough this is common to most 8v heads, made me panic as well!
Guest rick03054 Posted June 13, 2006 Yup, I had that too
ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted June 13, 2006 Yeah dont fill it in with sealant like I did once. It makes the cam seal pop out. The hole is to relieve the oil pressure build up from the pumped flow that feeds the cam bearings.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted June 15, 2006 So this is normal then? The hole looks rough and jagged and not like it was cast that way. Seems a bit odd, but I'll carry on with this head if it's OK to use.
pugpete1108 62 1 Cars Posted June 15, 2006 it is the same as the 1.9 i just rebuilt , i just left it , dont look good tho does it?
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted June 15, 2006 It is very strange, it looks lke a break through when machining the part which would normally mean scrap but they all have it so although it looks crap it would seem to be intentional! Rob
