Straight Swap?

is it posssble to fit a mi16 head onto a bx gti 8v block straight swap? im curious but i kno the bx engine has high compression so i wounder if it would fit and would all the oilways etc meet if i could

AFAIK the oil ways etc line up, but the valves would hit the pistons I think, you would need mi pistons and liners

The 8 V bx doesnt have the piston spray bars either,its a totally different engine !,Just swap the lot !

so i definetly couldnt use me bx gti bottom end? what about a 19 gti end?

Yes you can use any XU bottom end, Most likey the valves would clear but as with previous post the engine mounts etc need modding to fit so it's not worth the hassle.

oh well i though it was worth a try as a cheaper alternative as there isnt many good mi16's left these days

I haven't measured one, but I would have thought the valves would be guarenteed to hit the pistons. Your CR would be well down anyway. Assuming you changed the pistons, the biggest issue is the front engine mount. Only 3 of the 5 holes match on an 8V block. So if you're prepared to hold it up by 3 bolts go for it. I'd like someone to be a ginuea pig!
