Has anyone got any instructions or personal things they would like to share with me as to how to properly fit a TranX LSD in a BE box please.

Ive got my "diffs for divs" guide that i'll post sometime, its about fitting a quaife diff, but pretty sure its 99% the same for fitting a tranX

That's what plate diffs do, isn't it? The Gripper I've got in my 106 clanks and bangs like a bastard, but you forget all that when you get to the first corner and start grinning like a freak.

I take it you;ve modded the casing for the diff to fit and have used the Ford Bolts to bolt on the Crownwheel.

The clunking sounds like the diff could still be catching the casing. Ive only fitted a tran-x diff in 3 different gearboxes, 1 being a gti-6 box and all 3 needed grinding on the casing in the same 2 areas.

One grinding point is on the gearbox cover near a casting protrusion, and exactly opposite this on the gearbox case iself needs to be fettled.

Ive not had to use ford bolts though to fit the final drive, after not being able to get them with the part number given at my local ford dealers I fitted the original peugeot bolts instead. If you split the diff as though you were going to adjust the clutch plates then you can get a normal socket on the bolt heads.

cheers for the replies guys.

I have had a look at the guide and nothing different to what i have done to mine.

I understand these diffs clunk to a certain extent when gripping etc but its not that.

The whole car shudders when on full lock as if something is catching and binding up then releasing. A bit like a drive shaft has gone but I am on my 3rd set now so would think that it was not that. I have tried both 309 ones and 205 ones. Changed the wishbones (309 and 205). tightened everything on the subframe etc. Even changed the gearbox and still no joy.

This is really getting me down and is the last thing i need to do to get the car running on the road / track.

I have play in the rack but dont see how this would "bind" up. Also the wheel bearings seem fine but maybe something could be moving there?

You could drop the subframe, remove the diff casing and have a look see if tis been catching. If so you'll know where to grind it (just hope that nothing is damaged).
