When I turn to full lock i am getting a large clunking / rocking / slipping type happening.

History :

Was running with mi16 on 205 wishbones and driveshafts standard box and diff.

Went to a gymkarna and something broke. Thought it was a driveshaft as was getting a loss of drive when turning any amount on the steering. limped home 40 miles like this but did make it.

Changes made.

bought a set of 309 bottom arms and have put them on.

bought a pair of 309 drive shafts which are now fitted.

Bought a Tran-x Limited Slip Diff which is fitted.

Bought a group N bottom mount and fitted that.

Bought a gti-6 lump and fitted that.

Noise is coming from what appears to be the left hand side. So thought i may have been sold a duff driveshaft.

More changes.

Bought a brand new LH drive shaft and fitted that tonight.

Not sure if its just me but feels a little better but still a big problem there.

What to do next??? There isnt a lot left which is still original. My dad seems to think its the box but why would it only occur on full (or almost full) lock?

Do i go for the extra expense of the drivers side drive shaft? Or go for a box change? What else is there?

Please help, to top it all off I am going to haynes on saturday so ive only got tomorrow to sort it.

Are you lowered at all, Mines lowered but since swapping rear beams its lowered it a touch more and I have same symptons, on inspection with car sat still and nobody in car the car on full lock the wheel is about 3mm off the box soIm guessing under load it may rub that slightly. Im just gonna raise the back about 10mm and it should go back how it was previous.

Mine is on 309 fornt setup and 309 rear beam.

Mine is on 309 rear beam also. I lowered it a bit on the back but its sat on standard shocks and springs up front I believe, but is low enough that i cannot get my jack under it on the subframe.

I can get a trolley jack under mine. The front wheels sit just inside the arch.

Mine doesnt sit in the arches. how bizarre.

The wishbones are about horizontal on when the car is just sat. I am running 195/50/15 toyos.

Have you had any problems with this then or just try not to turn to sharply i guess. This is a track car at present but gonna have to sort this as gonna start rallying in her later this year.

Mines a track car but at the moment being used as daily drive, my wishbones sit slightly upward and Im on same tyres as you. One thing is when the driveshafts are horizontal they have max pressure on them and this can cause rubbing noises as they get under max stress on bends. Have you checked the tyres for any signs of rubbing?

with regards to problems, Ive pretty much lost the lip on drivers side rear arch moulding from rubbing and when I accelerate or corner hard I can feel the front end catching something. Im gonna raise the rear a touch and also fit a stronger top mount as mine is FUBAR, hopefully this will solve my problems. I think the box is swinging toward the wheel when on a roundabout in a spritied way

The oly thing I dont understand is loads of people here are running 309 suspension set ups and its not causing any problems.

Something cant be right for it to be "shunting" on lock.
