Quick Shift

Recommended Posts

Guest Tidybri

Well ive sorted my clutch problems thankfully it wasn't a new clutch i needed in the end!! :P

Now i face the dilema of sloppy gears!?!? :)

So the movement from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th is quite long and the stick touches the handbrake when id 3rd and 4th. So do i either fit a quick shift to make this shorter or is it a sighn of needing new gear rods?

Also how much am i looking to spend? ;)

do both :) A full set of rods will come to about £40 i think, and you can get a replacement L bracket thingy from ebay to give the shorter throw.

Miles made up my quickshift by extending the gear leaver which reduces wear on the gearbox. I think Dino has one of these too.

Check all your linkage parts are correctly tight.

I've also got one of Miles gearsticks & they are better than the shortened brackets imo when everything is tightened up correctly wth decent bushes in the L bracket.

Far easier than fitting a GE quickshift kit in that case, a couple of screws to take the end of the centre console out, one bolt & one linkage to disconnect / reconnect & you are done.

Best thing is it can all be done from inside the car. :o

Graham.
