Help Required Identifing A Engine Bay Sensor

Whilst copper greasing the wheel bolts on the passenger side front wheel of my new toy a 1989 205 1.9, I noticed the following sensor dangling over the steering rod in front of the steering box gaiter:

Could anyone advise on what the sensor is for and on what part of the car it should be part of?

That will be the Diag plug for TDC, Unbolt it from the block and bin it as no one uses it
