Ren 0 Posted June 7, 2006 I've just been looking through previous posts about routing coolant pipes and found this picture http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v303/Ban...-1062263255.jpg My question is do I have to block the pipe off the thermostat up, remove the metal coolant pipe that runs along the back of the head and change my distrubution block for an 8v one or can i leave them as they are? jono 0 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) I used the Mi16 Dist block on my Mi16 install, If I remember correctly it plumbed straight in, just had to shorten the top rad hose. Didn't have to block or remove any of the plumbing on the Mi16 itself, you definitely want to retain the metal water pipe as it has a bleed point on it. BTW, worth replacing the Mi16 Dist block as it's plastic. Cheers... J. Edited June 7, 2006 by jono
Ren 0 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) The 8v dist block is plastic as well, if i change to this setup there is a bleed nipple on one of the pipes that goes to the heater matrix. I'll see if i can post the topic up I've been reading. Edit: hope this works http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=59227 Edited June 7, 2006 by Ren
Pete C 0 Posted June 8, 2006 I seem to remember using the Mi16 dist. block for a mate's conversion, with one of the smaller hoses blocked up. There was a reason why we didn't use the 8v one, but I can't remember why, sorry.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 8, 2006 There was a reason why we didn't use the 8v one, but I can't remember why, sorry. There needn't be any reason for not using the 8v block unless its because you didn't have the gasket for under it. They are the same fitting on the block & make things easier, blocked ports are a potential leak so using an 8v one is a better idea imo. Graham.
petert 586 Posted June 8, 2006 I also prefer to use the 8V distribution block and dump the heater bypass pipe completely.

There we go... whatever the reason was, it must have been a stupid reason, but it also must have made sense at the time I also prefer to use the 8V distribution block and dump the heater bypass pipe completely. Yeah, what is that pipe for anyway? Edited June 8, 2006 by Pete C
Ren 0 Posted June 8, 2006 I also prefer to use the 8V distribution block and dump the heater bypass pipe completely. Is this the metal pipe along the back of the head?
