pugpete1108 62 1 Cars Posted June 6, 2006 anyone talk me through doing it, need to check there squirting ok so want to pop them outwill this cause major probs or is it easy enough? do they screw out? give them a good pull , but dont use anything to pry them out as you will damage the o rings, you might find the o ring and end cap might stay in the hole which is a bit of a pig. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 7, 2006 This has been covered before so a search coiuld've brought up some results but anyway; Pull fuel pump fuse out with engine running until it cuts out so there is no fuel pressure left. Undo all 10mm bolts holding fuel rail onto inlet manifold. using a 17mm spanner under the head of the injector by the manifold gently lever the injectors out gradually working on each one until they come free. Remove the clips holding the injectors into the fuel rail & you should be able to pull them free from the rail without to much trouble. Graham.
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted June 7, 2006 You lot sound like a Haynes manual! Injectors can be stuck fast to the inlet manifold and if they are then there is absolutley no way you are going to pull them out by hand. Also if you do it on the car then not only can the cap get stuck, it can drop into the inlet manifold or even into the cylinder head if unlucky. I've done 2 sets so far, the second weren't too bad but still no way to shift them by hand. The first set were an absolute git... I have used a spot of vasaline around the seals to get new ones in as well as they weren't going to go in without damage without it. Rob
Dream Weaver 2 Posted June 7, 2006 I just pulled my fuel rail off and they popped out. Squirted fuel all over, but it worked
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 7, 2006 You lot sound like a Haynes manual! Isn't that the idea? To make them slightly easier to get out of the inlet manifold spray some WD40 around where they fit into it. With a warmed engine they should come out easier but I've had them seperate on cold inlets (thankfully they were off the car). Graham.
