Constella Big Brake Brackets.

Hey Folks

Just fitted one side up, so thought i would put some pics up if anyone was interested.

Currently housed under 16" Mo's, however does it look like they may fit under 15" Speedlines?

Unfortunately i do not own any to test it out.

I got Lucas GTI6 discs for £28, wich i thought was a bargain and the brackets and bolts were about the same, coupled together with Mintex pads and braided lines.

Would be interested in peoples thoughts on this.

did you get the brackets off ebay? Interested to know what you think of them.

 

I reckon they might fit under 15" speedlines, the brackets GE used to sell did just fit I think.

Yep eBay, although they did take a month to arrive as they were having troubles with there CNC laser-cutter, so i heckled them a bit and recieved a free bottle of brake fluid

In all honesty i thought the standard discs and pads were damn good on my old 1.9, so any improvement over that and i will be happy.

Will let you know my verdict when my car is road worthy, how long have you got

This will be good to find out as previous kits that use a spacer (I can only think of the Autofive one) used to fit under a 15' wheel & I can't see why these won't if they are spaced for the same amount.

 

Constella offer forum members a 10% discount direct btw, these might be less bought direct than via ebay.

I may have to obtain a 15" myself now becuase i really want to now also, or if anyones local to me wants to pop over and fit one your more than welcome.

The quality of the bracket and bolts are also very good and fitment was a doddle, some of the carrier had to be ground down, but i think thats the same with all these kits isnt it?

I have been thinking about getting this kit and after a search I found this thred.

 

Can anyone confirm if these kits will allow use of a 15" wheel

yes they fit under 15 inch speedlines . They company that makes them is a very good friend of the old Notts psooc group leader(Marc H) and he has confirmed they fit .

Cool, good to know. Not tested it myself though still

 

Although the fitting guide is good, they was a small amount of material I had to take out from

the yoke to accept the bigger disc. Arrowed below, proper difficult getting an angle grinder in there, so had to

resort to a course file to shave off a few mm's

Well, bit difficult for me to tell as I went from standard worn calipers and OMP pads, to those brackets, new calipers/lines with 6' disc's and Mintex 1144 pads, so to me they have made a big difference. Braking is V. good now:D

 

Feeling the need for some White Speedlines lol.

The Autofive kits would work for some people with Speedlines but not others. I discovered that some wheels would just about clear the calipers but others would catch, it didnt matter if they were SMRs or Speedlines, both seemed to have variable manufacturing tolerances. They would catch on the outer corner of the caliper where the spokes curve back round it.
