Silicon Hose Kit

Recommended Posts

Guest ashnicholls

I know this sounds backwards, but its becaue im fitting a gti engine into a 1.1 car.

But will i need that metal tube that mounts on the inside wing, that joins some pipes from the engine to the rad if I have got a silicon hose kit,

just checking whether i need to get one.

Cheers

Well you'll need a pipe. Doesn't have to be the metal pug one though :)

Sorry to go a little off topic.....You mention a silicon hose kit. Are these readily available for a 1.9 or did you make all the bits up (ie. angles etc) yourself?

Metal, plastic, as long as it seals and wont shake out you can bodge anything in there  The metal pipe is attached to the chassis leg, I don't know if joining the hoses with a bit of unsupported pipe would risk it contacting anything or not, so that would be worth checking as you do it.

Thery're readily available. Search for "samco" on here and google. Also check the group buy section, bakerbm is starting selling kits soon.

I got a set of venair sports hoses.

http://www.venairsport.co.uk/

Much cheaper than samco, and look good quality, and they said they would replace any pipe if it did break, yet they said all hoses are tested and shouldnt break.

I paid £170, got free delivery as a member, and that was full the full 9 hose kit to suit the 8v, which includes the header tank pipe.

Has anyone done this bodge, does it need attaching to the chassis leg

Go to Peugeot and get the correct pipe - It attaches to the chassis leg and is flattened to clear the wheel (although not sure that this is overly critical).

The right part is available relatively cheaply - Use it...

Bought one from my local Peugeot dealer the other day - £9.43+VAT and they had it in stock as well :D

I paid more than that for a copy from GSF! That'll teach me!
