Anthony 1,003 Posted June 6, 2006 Keep trying - sometimes they can be stuborn, but a little twisting and wobbling and they'll usually go back in OK. If it's the drivers side, make sure that the intermediate bearing retaining bolts are turned to face outwards.
matt205xs 0 Posted June 6, 2006 hmm, have you tried turning the driveshaft when in the diff? is the diff lined up ??
Guest bigally Posted June 6, 2006 i don't know if the diff is lined up, if it is not how do i line it up?, is it just a matter of levering it up
jackherer 543 Posted June 6, 2006 I found my passenger side d/s to be very stubborn yesterday. I ended up putting a little gear oil on the splines as it had been out of the gearbox for a while and tried again and it went in first try...
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted June 6, 2006 put it in gear then just twist and push on the shaft, it will locate eventually. Is it the long side? check the speedo drive cog is located correctly.
matt205xs 0 Posted June 6, 2006 hmm not too sure can you get to it too have a look thru, if both shafts are out should see if its lined up or not, if yo cant try getting a long screw driver or something and see that way, be careful with it tho incase you damage the splines
