Coil Pack Mounting

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is for you guys that are running a mappable ecu. Where do you have your coil packs mounted?, this is on a 205.Where i was thinking was behind the driver side headlamp. Also, what ignition leads do you find fits best on coil pack and plugs? I have a Motorcraft Ford coilpack. cheers

I use a 106 pack too. Mines is mounted to the inner wing where the ign.amp/coil used to be.

I have had some custom leads made but I do have some spare leads from a 405 (sorry can't remember model!).

its on a XU5 engine, dont think i have holes for mounting a plate really  i think if i mount the coil pack behind the driver side headlamp but quite a bit up so its as close as possible to the spark plugs it should be ok. If i can get 3 or 4 long ford leads it should be ok. maybe i could mount the coil pack somehow where the dizzy is bolted on, as i dont need the dizzy. make a blanking plate to go over the gap after removing the dizzy and seal with some silicone and drill some holes in this to hold the coil? anyone tried this??

Hi mate,

What you need is a late XU engine (306, xantia etc) thermostat housing, this covers over the cam shaft end where the dizzy normally goes, and has mounting for a '106' type coil pack. Then just get the later HT leads and jobs a goodun!

Hope this helps.

The Ht leads need to be from a car that runs a coil pack, not just any later 205 HT leads.

A 1994 205 Automatic has the exact ones suitable for this as do various Citroen ZX's that ran coilpacks at an earlier date than the 205.

i have my coil pack already, a motorcraft zetec one. Im gonna get zetec leads to go with it, the ones with the stupid clips on the sides and try and slip the 205 rubbers on the other ends.

Im gonna plate over the dizzy hole and seal it with some rubber, the plate im gonna use will be larger than what i need so i can drill holes in it to mount the coil pack, facing away from the engine. What do you recon?
