himbigchief 0 Posted June 1, 2006 I'm getting kind of fed up having to replace the full wishbone every time the ball joint goes on my Goodwood, especially with the cost of the bloody things! I was wondering whether it would be possible to fit 306 wishbones onto the 309 subframe as it would be much cheaper and easier replacing just the ball joint as opposed to the full arm. Alternatively, is there any way you can convert the current arms to run rosejoints at the hub end? I think I saw something about this somewehre, but I can't be sure! Anybody got any ideas whether this would work or not? I'm not sure what the 306 ones look like atm, but I'll have a check on our lasses when she gets back from work. I bet you a pair of bottom arms that they don't use the correct rose joints.! A lot of people I've seen claim to have "BUILT" a pair of arms and then use a crappy rose joint on the end. Because the hub bolt is 16mm in diameter, standard rose joints come in 16mm hole x 16mm thread, which is dangerously weak. The rose joints on these arms are 16mm hole x 20mm thread, have a loading of 70,000 tonnes, and are bloody expensive - barely any change from £100 each (inc vat) Then try and find an engineering firm to cut the old ball joint off, make the threaded tube, machine the arm to take the threaded tube, weld the tube to the arm, make the pin and spacers, and supply a 16mm nyloc nut and a 20mm nut....all for the price of £25 ?????? I don't think so. Whoever claims that they can build a pair of Group A bottom arms for £225 are either dreaming or are using crap quality parts! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
