Faulty Oil Pressure Gauge, Wire?

Recommended Posts

Richie-Van-GTi

Since swapping my engines about Ive not been getting any reading on the oil pressure gauge. When I put the first replacement 1.9 lump in it didnt register any oil pressure but didnt investigate fully as the engine had other issues. Now Ive got a working 2.0 in Ive noted it still doesnt work. When you first switch the car on the gauge registers just over 3/4, whn the car is actually started the gauge is like that for about 5 seconds then goes back to zero. Ive tried 2 different senders, one of which I know for sure works. Could it just be a bad wire between the gauges and sender or does it sound like a faulty gauge? I dont remember it self testing with the original engine.

Have you got the wires for the gauge and pressure warning light the correct way round?

assume so as the warning light works correctly but doesnt when swapped over

If they are cross connected the warning light will still go out when the engine is running but the guage won't work.

If you can see the wire number, according to Haynes

30B is the sender wire

30a is the switch wire
