Non-peugeot Related - Rover 114 Electrical Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, need some advice

I gave my the rover to my girlfriend, but suddenly it has developed a battery problem. She has only drove it twice and she hasn't changed anything. The problem is that the battery died about 3 days ago and i thought the battery was just knackered so i replaced it and the new one has discharged overnight!

I have checked the obvesious lights left on, boot light, etc... but nothing is on.

anyone have any idea's? or is there anyway to check if a circuit is drawing current?

You can use a multimeter to measure the current then pull fuses until the current draw goes away. Will localise the problem at least.

Other possibility: is the alternator charging? Maybe the batt is flat before parked rather than going flat overnight.

cheers rob, I had stated to measure voltage across fuses without the ignition turned on. So il try probing the battery and pulling fuses now.
