methebmxer 0 Posted May 31, 2006 Just a quickie. What should I use to seal the sump plug as I noticed a steady drip which I cant tolerate having just splashed out on some quality oil! Or is it easier to get a new plug?
Pugnut 9 1 Cars Posted May 31, 2006 clean both mating surfaces with some fine emery paper . take the sump plug to any half decent garage or parts/accessories shop and get a new copper washer for it.
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted May 31, 2006 You will find the copper washer for the sump plpug is common all over the engine (GBox drain and fill, oil warning gauge, ECU temp sensor, etc.) so it is generally worth getting a handful of them and keeping them in stock as it is so much hassle to go out for one washer half way through a job! ablister 31 Posted June 1, 2006 they are about 7p from peugeot anyway. You may as well change the oil filter too while you are draining the oil
Ahl 4 Posted June 1, 2006 and if your really tight you reuse the copper washers by annealing them - heat them up red hot then dunk them in cold water. Makes them all lovely and soft against my skin again...
richsmells 2 Posted June 2, 2006 I bought a box of 75 from partco. Took them to the counter... "£19.99 please mate"... "err... i've only got four quid on me..." (produces pocket change). "Ok, that'll do.. cheers!"
Guest RickGTIBaker Posted June 4, 2006 Aye = pop to pug and just ask for a sump-plug washer, pennies.
