What Are Bike Carbs Like To Drive

Recommended Posts

As per the title really, more and more people are putting these onto their cars and i was just wondering if they are worthwhile as a cheap upgrade for my Mi when it comes back from it's rebuild. Just wondering fuel consumption issues and driveability, as i would be using this as an everyday car in the summer.

i would be using the 8v distributor.

Regards,

Simon.

oh, and before anyone says, i have searched and mostly come across threads that say to do a search, and the others are related to the conversion itself.

I have bike bodies rather than carbs, but probably a similar driving experience.

They make the car quite hard to drive if you dont modify the throttle cam - my throttle pedal is now quite stiff, and its difficult when setting off to just press it a little - you have to give it some revs each time.

This can be annoying, and it needs remedying on mine as it does ruin the driving experience.

However...I drove mine down to FCS for the first time in 2 years since starting the rebuild and it was so much fun :P

The sound is amazing, the power and torque is amazing, and for the money (even less for carbs maybe??) they are well worth it.

I know bodies are different to carbs, but it may help you out. As for fuel, it cost me £70 in BP Ultimate to get to FCS and back (370 miles so 25mpg), though 90% of that was at full boot, the noise is so addictive :) Its also unmapped at the mo.

Thanks mate. Mine was doing 27mpg on the standard injetion so that sounds good to me :)

I will take into account the linkages. batoutofhell's twin 45's are a bit like that. you have to give it a bit on the edal to get it to move initially, then when its past that little bit the pedal is fine.

Looks like i'm goin bike carbs then lol.

Regards,

Simon
