Oil Breather Issue On 2.0 8v Lump

Recommended Posts

I got my 2.0 8v up and running in my gti, problem I have is when I drive it hard it pushes the oil back out and through the intake. I discovered this on route to fcs by way of a smoke screen behind me at 90+

Problemn I have is theres only one fitting at the bottom of the block and also my oil filler pipe split at the Tpiece near the bottom so I had the rocker cover breather going into the side of the oil filler neck and just one pipe from neck to block. I know this is the cause of the oil burning and on the way home I disconnected the 2 breathers from oil cap to intake and put them into pop bottles which I had to tiup back in every 40-50 miles. Anyone know if it would be ok if I put a T into the main oil filler pipe at thebase and run the rocker cover breather down to here then where the 2nd pipe came from block to oil filler neck on the gti if I took another T into the oil filler pipe back to the pipe on the neck. ?

Im concerned that having 3 pipes going to one outlet may cause too much oil in the pipe and still means it blows back out.

Other quick question is the engine came with a fast road kent cam in it, anyone know the duration and lift in comparison to the gti cam?

Not sure about the breather issue but stew205 had some problems with his for a while but has cured it now with a series of modifications to his breather system & fitting one way valves iirc.

What Kent cam is it? The spec can be found from that. (A number should be stamped on the distributor cam end).

Graham.
