S16 Ecu Lockout

Recommended Posts

jonand

Hi All

Can anyone tell me whether the 306 S16 (1994) has any inputs that will lock out the ecu. It didn't have a keypad - not sure about a transponder. Just need to know that I have sourced all components from the donor car. (It has Motronic 3.2)

Many Thanks

Jon

In Autodata  it says pins 13, 27 and 50 are for a coded keypad

my car runs on 3.2, and i just got a keypad wiring loom from a xantia and used a keypad with a motorola chip inside

Hi Rich,

Your absolutely right. Unfortunately it also says 'if fitted' and the accompanying circuit diagram shows the keypad in dotted lines. The engine i've bought comes from an early 306 S16 without a keypad - so I'm sort of hoping that there is no other facility for locking the ecu (the pin layout doesnt suggest any other form of locking input / output)

Wishful thinking ?

Cheers

Jon

PS Have now ordered new ignition components - failing that I will have the ecu checked out. In the meantime Have bought this running S16 to cover all eventualities

ah missed that bit :)

i wouldnt worry about it for the time being. get it all wired up and see if it works. i had the same prob on mine, was told it was unlocked but it wasnt. took 20 min to wire a keypad in

worst case scenario is additional cost of ecu code reading and a keypad and loom from scrappies

cheers

do you have the loom that goes with that particular ecu? could just check it see if the wires are there. I put one in a 306 and that didnt have the wires in the loom.

some of the 306's didn't have imboliziers fitted...

even if it does bridge the pins inside the ecu

Thanks everyone.

It seems that it isn't the problem that I thought. During my search I came across horror stories of expensive ecu unlocking which I could do without.

Cheers

Jon
