205_sunderland 4 Posted May 28, 2006 after replacing just about everything on the front end of my car (suspension wise) droplinks, shockers, bottom arms, i also had to change the master cylinder after it failing, i got a 1.9 master cylinder from someone i know and fitting it to the car and blanked the extra hole off. I bled the brakes but upon checking the last caliper i noticed it was stripped on the nipple, so i removed it nad my friends dad redrilled it and we managed to fit a bigger nipple in which actually didnt work in the end, so we proceeded to blank the h ole off with a bolt and added like a threadlock to make sure. After doing all this we re-bled the system and my pedal is pretty much the floor now, i have no idea why as i did bleed the damaged caliper from the flexi so it shoukld have worked but you can pump the pedal up with ease now so this must mean i have fixed the brake problem i had? but there is now alot of air trapped i cant get out? any ideas regards michael
Guest smokinslim Posted May 28, 2006 Had the same problem last year, get another caliper from somewhere. There's no way to guarantee you have all the air out of the caliper so is it really worth taking the risk? Plus its not much fun driving knowing the brakes are iffy. Pug_101 0 Posted May 28, 2006 You could try and put a small nipple in the blanking off bolt, but if it was me I would get a new caliper just to be safe. Cheers
205_sunderland 4 Posted May 29, 2006 i can get some 1.9 hubs and brakes fom someone local so i going to do that instead, which will at least mean i can get gti6 calipers on in the future. And they come with ok disks pads and shockers, as i needed disks and pads soon anyway i think it shoud do fine:)

205_sunderland 4 Posted May 29, 2006 Could the master cylinder be damaged? from what i was told of my friend who i got it off it ,should be working fine. i going to get the 1.9 brakes later today and fit all 1.9 brakes etc on front end which should get me back on the road hope it not a pain of a job the extra air might be comeing from the 1.9 master cylinder i used as it weeping from the blank i made so i gunna have to use a nipple. regards michael
