Owain1602 0 Posted May 26, 2006 Hi, im gonna be running twin DCOEs and was just curious where do people normaly mount their facet pump and filter king? It says in the facet instructions it should not be mounted more than 24 inches above the bottom of the tank. pugrallye 0 Posted May 26, 2006 if its the little cuboid solid state pump it needs mounting near the tank, most people mount them underneath the car, or inboard if your running lines through the car, if its a redtop, you can get away with mounting it in the engine bay, filter king regulator is normally mounted in the engine bay. Kitsune 0 Posted May 27, 2006 Why is it that the red top style cylindrical pumps are mounted in the bay? Whenever Im flicking through Retro and see some old escorts or the like, they all have the pumps and filters in the rear with the tanks. Is there actually any difference between front or rear set up? Owain1602 0 Posted May 27, 2006 thats a good question, i dont know the answer my self. But you hear some say you want it in the back because the pump is suposed to push rather than suck but in my oppinion, one end pushes and the other sucks, regardless of position. I think im gonna just mount it behind the hand-brake as i have no carpets or wiring in the car now anyway, its gonna be a rally car. Mount the pump around the hand-brake area then run fuel lines along the centre tunnel (between the two seats), through the bulk-head were the fuel injection loom normally goes, to my filter king which will be mounted were the original fuel filter was, then lines to the carbs. pugrallye 0 Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) its just down to there internal design and the way they pump, solid state pumps dont like dry fuel lines very much therefore its normal to have a type of gravity feed to them, or keep the line between the tank and pump as short as possible, unless you can keep the line pressurised permanently between the tank and the pump when not in use.
