Do you mean the Motronic 3.1 ECU?

i'm sorry but i'm really not sure. There was one in the for sale section the otherday. Seller descrbed it as plug and play with the xu9. I will have another good look and post my findings.

Yeah, that sounds like the ticket...

Do a search for motronic, mangement and 3.1 and it should give you a few answers!

what the seller (Inferno) put........

""im scrapping a bx gti next weekend, the management is the later non AFM type that uses a map senser instead of the AFM. this will transform your 1.9gti's cold starting, lumpy idling, and general driving qualitys. i had the same system on my 1.9 zx volcane and was exremely happy with it, it drove so much better than my lumpy gti's did.it was much more reliable and very good on fuel.

also the advantage of less air intake restiction and a very neat induction install is possible.

as far as i know this will plug and play on any 1.9 gti's.

also the ecu is a remapable type, so it could be used as a cheeper alternative to emerald and other stand alone systems.

ill sell this complete with coil pack, loom, ecu, ignition amp, and all other sensors required to fit the gti. the only thing you would need is the mi16 or similar flywheel to pick up the signal for the spark. i could post one but it would be costly.

75 posted, without the flywheel.

or come and remove it all yourself and take it for 50 quid! ""

thanks for your help by the way dom9.

Right..........it is the 3.1 management that i am looking at.

Few questions though.

1. what models used this managment. I know the 1.9 volcane used it but which of the 405's have it? is it the sri?

2. I take it from what i have read that i will need a loom, ecu and a map sensor................will i need to change the flywheel?

3. is it really worth it? sounds like a lot of hassel.

If you take it off the 405, the ecu will need remapping as the SRI (like Anthony's old one) is 2.0L.

Straight off the ZX volcane 1.9 you'll need the loom, ecu, map sensor, inlet manifold (it has a tee for the map sensor), thermostat housing and coil pack as this covers up the distributor drive, crank angle sensor I think, and the toothed flywheel.

He're a thread with some pics:

ZX isn't ideally suited imo as the loom needs extending if you want to keep the ecu in the same place as standard.

I got my bits from a 405 SRi & I chose to shorten a few wires on fitting.

Graham.
