Finaly Got Tax First Drive

Recommended Posts

Guest Tidybri

Well wot can i say spent the whole month waitin to get tax sorted a clutch problem for the time being i think still have very sloppy gears think rods need replacing.

But today thought wld go for a quick drive and there is now a high pitshed squek every now and then from the back and a grateing noise under braking.

Think the squek is the beam as i have had an issue with tyres rubbing the rear?

And brakes maybe just been stood 4 a month?

Just seems 2 be one thing after another!!!!! :D

i've an idea of how you must feel!

mine's usually pretty good, but i've had a coolant hose failure and a fuel pipe burst in the last few weeks. and over the past couple of days, the steering has been getting heavier and heavier - having to run around today trying to source a new rack so that i can get it tracked up tomorrow morning (busiest day of the week for most tyre garages :D ) in the hope that it'll all be ok in time for the next sprint (on Monday!)

i'll be miffed if i can't make it

your grating noise does sound like the brakes (esp after it's been stood for a while) - could try a few spirited stops so see if it cleans the drums/discs up. is it a 1.9? the h'brake cables can seize a little after time and might be tugging the pads onto the disc - easy enough to sort

good luck with your lot anyway!

Squeaking noise hopefully will be a rough damper or something similar, exhaust rubbing the trim.

It could also be that your rear beam is shagged and you need to fork out a few more hundred quid to get it sorted out. Are the wheels rubbing the inner arch (stick you fingers over the back of the tyre to see if there is a gap)?

Grating noise, as said rusty brake discs/drums, or worse a knackered wheel bearing.

Right so i think ive found my squeak and rub on the back it looks like a badly fitted rear vallence. Thats the imediate solution and then i need to check this rear beam out as im sure it aint right.

But the weather has been against me today been trying to get out all day!! Not gonna happen by the looks of it.

Think the brakes are gettin better as i drive it so hope it stops soon
