Power Loss With The 1.9 Gti

Recommended Posts

Guest lombardo

Hi, ive just had the gearbox fixed yet again, a bolt fell through one of the gaps on the gearbox housing and made a slight hole inside and pissed gear oil everywhere. Now my 1.9 seems to have lossed some power and doesnt seem fast and responsive at all.

Please help, any ideas?

Are you saying that you damaged the gearbox such that gear oil leaked out and you are still driving it? If so then a GBox without oil is probably your problem...

Yep you've kind of answered your own problem there. You can't expect a car thats leaking any liquid to perform as it should.

Good luck with getting it fixed

Well I thought he said he has had the gearbox fixed as a result of that damage, so I don't think he is saying that he is driving around with a holed gearbox, pissing oil everywhere!

Lombardo, did someone replace the gearbox? Maybe you have one with longer ratios now.

The gearbox is fine, the hole has been pluged and it has gear oil in it.

I have loss power and im not sure what this is down to.

I have put a new o-ring on, if the dizzy is a bit out, would this cause the power loss?

Yes. Do a search on ignition timing (or similar) I replied with a "how to" on setting it fairly recently.
