Trouble Locating A Gasket

Recommended Posts

TEKNOPUG

Hi there,

I need a gasket for carb - inlet manifold for a 1.6 205. It's the XU5M engine I think? Weber 36 TC carb. I'd be prepared to get a carb rebuild kit but having removed the carb the gasket is definitely FUBAR and I'm certain that it's the reason why the engine dies under load. My friend has said that I can use the car if I fix it and she's away in Spain for another month. So the sooner I get it the running, the longer I can use it for!

Tried lot's of specialist carb places, tried GSF, tried Eurocarparts, tried about every Pug specialist I can think of but they either don't stock them or they don't return my calls/emails. I can never get through to speak to anyone on the parts desks of local Peugeot dealers (quelle surprise).

So does anyone having any suggesting or comments where else I can try or has anyone had to purchase similar? Is this carb/inlet combination used on other models in the Pug range or Citreon etc? Ideas anyone?

I'd really like to get this by Saturday so that I have some wheels for the long weekend.

Found this on ebay; Peugeot Carburetor Gasket Kit P00001417F3 says that it fits 205, 309, 405 etc

Can anyone check on the parts CD and try to identify what number I need?

Cheers!

Well I managed to speak to a Pug Dealer today and they reckon there isn't an actual OE gasket. The guy said that it just uses a piece of heat proof paper - like a universal gasket cut to size. He quoted me 20p for a sheet but they'd have to order it!

Probably the cheapest fix on a non-running 205 ever?? I'll get some at the weekend and see if the car will actually work afterwards......

rescue dude

Make it yourself out of gasket paper.

Piece of p**s. Only need a small hammer and will take about ten minutes.

What does it look like? I've got a carb gasket(afaik) from the engine rebuild kit iirc that I'll not be using.

If I remember I'll bring it to FCS on Sunday.

Graham.

Can't make it to FCS I'm afraid Graham - no car and no money :)

Hopefully I can get this auto working on Saturday - I'll let you know how I get on.
