Bloddy Oil Everywhere

Recommended Posts

Guest lombardo

Ive just noticed that there is gearbox oil splatted all over my engine bay, Ive got the driveshaft seals being changed but there is oil coming from the rocker cover gasket, and the sump gasket. I have already changed the o-ring and intend to change these gaskets with a new oil dipstick too.

Is there anything else i should check for or replace, this is really pissing me off.

I'm just doing the same thing over a long period of time. On my 8v there are also the crankshaft seals to think about, but I would have thought that if the flywheel end one had gone that you would be getting clutch slip. There's also all the small seals around sensors etc, but I don't think they are causing your problems.

You could try a different oil as some leak more than others. I had Castrol GTX in a while back and may as well have poured it all over the floor because it leaked out of every seal imaginable. I'm trying Total 10/40 at the moment after the "A tale of two oils" post, yet to see if it stays in the engine better but certainly gives good pressure.
